Davina McCall had every reason to beam as she attended the Daily Mirror’s Pride of Britain Awards wearing a beautiful flower-patterned dress.
For the ever-popular TV host, everything is coming up roses.
Her ITV show Long Lost Family is well bedded in and proving a perennial favourite.
A budding telly project will spring to life next year. But it is super-fit Davina’s love life that is really blooming.
At the Chelsea Flower Show in the spring, the ex-Big Brother presenter, 52, revealed her blossoming romance with celebrity stylist Michael Douglas, 45.
Davina’s 17-year marriage to Matthew Robertson ended in 2017 before she started dating Michael.
Mum-of-three Davina said: “This year has been amazing. I have got a new man. I’m very happy. All in all it’s been a great year. I am enjoying life so much.”
The couple have been snapped canoodling on several occasions and Davina has called Michael “one of my favourite people” when sharing a link to a podcast he appeared on.
Davina has not only been lucky in love. Her television career is also looking really healthy.
She helped reunite close relatives after years of separation in the ninth series of Long Lost Family, which she presents with Nicky Campbell, 58.
There have also been two 2019 specials of the moving show which is such a hit with viewers.
And in September she was announced as a judge for The Masked Singer on ITV, which will air next year. She also fronts Channel 4’s The £100K Drop.
Davina is one of TV’s most recognisable faces but she is still unsure of herself. She said: “Work has been amazing. I’ve got imposter syndrome, where you think someone is going tap you on the shoulder. I think everybody has it.
“You think, ‘She can sit on her laurels’, but no, never. I always just think I’ve had my time, maybe this is it.
“Ever since I left Models 1 [agency] to get into telly, I asked them to keep my job open for like five years. It was the longest ever maternity leave.
“I was like, ‘Can I still come back if it all goes wrong?’ I had that thing of where it all might still go wrong, but it just never did.”
Yet despite her uncertainty, Davina still has plenty of hopes and dreams for the future.
And one of the things on her bucket list is to meet her hero and inspiration – US chat show host Oprah Winfrey, 65.
Davina said: “She has done a lot of good in the world, and I think she changed the conversation and it spread over to the UK – ‘let’s talk about things, let’s not hide stuff’ – and I really like what she has done.
“She is amazing. I would cut off my right arm to meet Oprah.”
And Davina believes TV is now more welcoming to older women.
She said: “I think we are now heading into a time where age is, in a weird way, a benefit, because of the knowledge you can have.”
As well as her TV success, Davina has become a fitness guru, launching her own successful fitness DVDs.
But she says she doesn’t over do the exercise, insisting: “I work out three or four times a week.
Davina is believed to have briefly dated family friend Eric Clapton in 1985, with the legendary guitarist producing her demo as she attempted to begin a career in music. She also had a brief romance with footballer Stan Collymore.
Her first marriage came in 1997. She tied the knot with her boyfriend Andrew Leggett, but it ended after a few months.
At the time she said: “I fell madly in love, but it was wrong, so I got out quick.”
She met Pet Rescue host Matthew by chance while walking her dog on Clapham Common.
They got married in a glitzy wedding at Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire in 2000, and have three children together, Holly, 17, Tilly, 15, and Chester, 12.
They renewed their vows 15 years after their wedding in a ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.
She also gushed about her husband in interviews throughout their marriage, saying: “I’m very lucky because, as far as I know, I’ve married a really faithful guy.
“When I think of Matthew and me in our seventies, I see us on a world cruise with entertainment every night.” But in late 2017, the couple parted. Davina said: “I am very sad to say Matthew and I have separated. Our amazing children are our number one priority.”
She also shared an Instagram quote: “Your past is your past. Leave it there. Get on with the future part.”
