Dua Lipa is drumming up the courage to ask Madonna to join her for a duet on a new record.
Dua is said to be a life-long fan of 61-year-old Madonna and hopes to replicate the Ray Of Light singer’s four decades and counting career for herself.
Ben Mawson, who is the manager of Don’t Start Now singer Dua, has spilled the beans of the plans to approach Madge for a sing-a-long.
He told Music Week: “Future Nostalgia is heavily influenced by Madonna.
“In fact, we’re about to try to get Madonna on a [Dua] record.”
He went on to suggest Dua could have the longevity of Madonna as he feels she has similar qualities to the American music icon.
He said: “Dua told me she aspired to be Madonna the first time I met her, at 17, and the way she said it meant that I actually believed it was possible.
“It was her personality, charisma, competitiveness and drive that came across.”
Dua’s life has certainly turned around since she burst onto the music scene in 2015.
Last month a friend of the singer opened up to the Mirror of her struggles to make it in the music business and how Dua lived off ready meals while chasing success.
Songwriter Chelcee Grimes said: “Dua is a superstar now but for me she’s not changed one bit.
“We can’t go to Co-op or Tesco and get a meal deal like we used to, but other than that she’s just the same.”
