Kate Ferdinand says she has been having some awkward conversations with her young step-children about sex and reproduction.
Rio and Rebecca had three children together, 13-year-old Lorenz, 11-year-old Tate, and nine-year-old Tia.
And after Rio and Kate tied-the-knot in Turkey last September, Kate says the kids are excited to know if the newlyweds will have a child together – prompting some awkward sounding talks.
Kate told The Sun on Sunday’s Fabulous magazine: “Conversations have got a bit graphic with the kids.
“They’re saying: ‘When are you going to do it, then?’ It’s so funny.
“One of them said: ‘You’re not going to have [sex] in lockdown while we’re in the house so I think you’re going to have it in October.’ I’m like: ‘I can’t believe I’m having this conversation!’”
Kate gave an insight into family life for the Ferdinands.
She said: “We’re really lucky, considering I’ve come in and haven’t known the kids all their lives. We are a tight family unit and if you looked in, you’d just see happiness.”
Kate’s close bond with Rio’s kids was made clear last week when Lorenz paid tribute to her on her birthday.
The former reality star was moved to tears by a touching post Lorenz shared on Instagram showing the family alongside a heartfelt birthday wish for his stepmum.
“Happy birthday @xkateferdinand love you loads thank you for everything you do,” the youngster wrote.
Kate was clearly touched by the message and quickly re-shared the post with her 1.2 million Instagram followers, adding a response of her own
She wrote: “Ok your making me cry again. love you,” alongside a love heart emoji.
