I’m A Celeb’s Nadine Coyle has arrived in Australia ahead of her stint in the jungle and the star has a history of disliking one of the countries native animals.
The former Girls Aloud singer, 34, who will be roughing it in the outback with creepy crawlies and other celebrities, has a fear of koala bears – an unearthed clip has exposed.
In footage from the girl group’s 2004 documentary Off The Record, Nadine, alongside her former bandmates Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding and Kimberly Walsh, visited Australia Zoo – where the singer was less than impressed when she came face to face with one of the tree climbers.
As they visit the site for a photo opportunity, Nadine tells the camera crew: “I just dislike animals in cages. I’m really anti-animal. I just think they’re so unpredictable.”
They all gather around to look at a koala that is being held by a zoo worker before Nadine exclaims: “F*****g hell. Jesus I was far too close for that,” before backing away. “
The foursome are then ushered to pose for snaps with the docile animal but Nadine can be seen keeping her distance by posing at the edge of he group.
The funny footage, that can be found on YouTube, comes after Nadine laid bare her anxiety struggles after her Girls Aloud days and how she hopes appearing on I’m A Celeb will help her face her fears.
She said: “I really want to try something completely new. I am scared of so many things. I used to be brave. In the past, I’ve opened a restaurant, had a record label, had my daughter and it was go, go, go with all of these.
“Now I have got so fearful even being in the car, flying or general things. I think it is since I became a parent that I am much more afraid.
“I really hope that by doing this, it pushes me so far out the comfort zone and that I learn to be comfortable, feel relaxed and do the things that I didn’t used to be afraid of.”
Previously, the star has been outspoken about Girls Aloud’s split and put the group’s 2009 split down to the catty fights that consumed the other Girls Aloud bandmembers.
In an unearthed interview, the songstress claimed her band mates were envious she got more of the vocals than everyone else in the band.
She told The Sun in 2017: “It was fine at the start but there’s always politics in any band. It just happened that I always got more vocals than everybody else, so in terms of people wanting their voice heard, that wasn’t happening. And it made people, very bitter. They didn’t like that.”
Jealousy led to a divide in the band which saw Cheryl team up with Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh while Sarah Harding backed Nadine.
Nadine admitted the idea the group were BFFs was a far cry fromthe truth.
She added: “It’s so sad for me to have to admit this stuff now because for so long, there’s the band, and you want everybody to think we’re best friends and we have pillow fights and, you know, drink milkshakes.
“That’s what I wanted it to be. I really, really wanted that to be, but it just wasn’t how it was. So yeah there was [a divide]. We’re all very, very different characters.”
