Piers Morgan caused a stir as he posed with Rebekah Vardy
The WAGs went to war last month when Coleen accused Becky’s Instagram account of leaking fake stories to newspapers causing a huge rift between the two friends.
Now Piers rubbed shoulders with his friend Rebekah as she watched her husband Jamie’s team beat Arsenal 2-0.
Social media was sent into a spin when the Good Morning Britain personality shared a selfie with the WAG at the Leicester City game.
Many of his 6.9million Twitter followers posted the snake emoji beneath the photograph.
It comes after Piers insisted he wouldn’t take sides because he was firm friends with both Rebekah and Coleen.
However, he did have his say on WAGatha Christie in a recent MailOnline column.
He wrote: “Why would Coleen Rooney, who is massively famous herself and married to one of the most famous people in British sporting history, ever think her posts to 367 people would remain ‘private’?
“That’s not to defend Rebekah Vardy if she did leak those stories, or whoever else may have done it from her account. If it WAS her, it would clearly constitute a terrible betrayal of her friendship with Coleen…
“I’d certainly find it hard to understand if it was; she’s married to a multi-millionaire, so doesn’t need the money, and the stories aren’t damaging to the Rooneys so can’t be attributed to any seething jealousy on Ms Vardy’s part as some are suggesting. Why else would she do it?”
In the wake of the scandal, Rebekah and her footballer husband were forced to cut their holiday in Dubai short.
Coleen claimed to have planted false stories on her private Instagram account and revealed she had blocked every account but Rebekah’s Instagram to test whether or not the information would leak.
When the storied found their way into a national newspaper, Coleen told the world what had happened in a bombshell statement that went viral.
Rebekah vehemently denied leaking stories and said she was “disgusted” that she was facing such claims when heavily pregnant.
She has since claimed to have hired a forensic IT expert to prove her innocence and is considering legal action.
