Smash and Supergirl actor Jeremy Jordan has taken to social media to share some tragic news with fans.
The star said that his nephew Kaleb, whom he affectionately referred to as Bubba, has taken his own life at the age of 14.
“Please take a moment amidst the chaos and say a prayer for my family. A couple of days ago, my 14-year-old nephew took his own life. We are devastated,” Jeremy revealed in a heartfelt Instagram
“Teen suicide is a serious issue we cannot forget. Please talk to your children. Listen to them. Look for signs. Take action.
“They are the most vulnerable amongst us in these times of turmoil.
“RIP Bubba,” he finished.
The actor then shared a link to a GoFundMe Page in support of his grieving family.
Friends of the actor began to share their condolences and messages of support in response to his post.
Joe Aaron Reid, who appeared in Smash alongside Jeremy, added: “I’m so sorry, my friend. Condolences to you and your family.”
Broadway star Laura Osnes shared: “Oh, no. My broken heart breaks even more over this. I am so sorry, Jer.”
Speaking about the tragedy on the family’s GoFundMe page, Kaleb’s grieving mother wrote: “I’m trying to keep myself together as I learn how to grieve with 16yo son and my 5 month old daughter holding my hand along the way.
“Now of course I have to start making the big discussions how to give him a burial he deserves. I know our family alone can’t pay for this. I hate that we have to ask for help.
The family have now raised $12,270 of their $25,000 target.
