Tiger King star Joe Exotic has penned a begging letter to President Donald Trump
The 57-year-old former zoo keeper – whose real name is Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage – is currently behind bars after being sentenced to 22 years in jail in 2019 after being convicted of 17 federal charges of animal abuse and two counts of murder for hire.
In March this year, Joe found fame following the release of the Netflix documentary series Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness which chronicled his rise and fall including his rivalry with Big Cat Rescue charity worker Carole Baskin – who he was accused of plotting to murder.
Joe wrote his letter for President Trump and sent it to podcast host, Josh Belcher, who has since shared the contents of the plea.
Joe writes: “I would like to thank everyone in America and around the world for their love and support.
“If the millions of you can see what has been done wrong to me in the name of justice, let’s hope President Trump will also make this right and grant me a pardon.”
He continued: ”We must take a stand in America that corrupt justice will no longer be tolerated.
“And [US Speaker of the House of Representatives] Nancy Pelosi needs to put up or shut up with her quote: ‘no-one is above the law’.”
In his two page note, he turned his attention to 59-year-old rival, Carole, and accused prosecutors of being in cahoots with her and her attempts to make him lose his big cat zoo in order to rehabilitate the animals held there.
He wrote: “The federal agents had a private agenda for Carole Baskin, from the beginning, because the USDA, who licensed me to have a zoo, told me told me to put those tigers to sleep.
“And the Federal game warden arrested me for taking an endangered species. But did not have the vet look at their bodies to see why.
“They just cut their heads off to parade in front of the jury, to make them hate me,” he claimed.
In the course of the Netflix documentary, viewers watch as Joe is seemingly swindled out of his zoo by fellow big car enthusiast Jeff Lowe.
And while Joe has been left to spend much of the rest of his life behind bars, Joe is believed to be in talks to star in a spin-off series of his own, while Carole Baskin was awarded his old zoo by a judge.
