AFC Leopards Captain Make Special Request to Fans as He Oozes Confidence Despite Loss to Gor

There is still hope at the AFC
Leopards camp despite the team’s recent heavy loss at the hands of fierce rivals
Gor Mahia.

Ingwe lost 4-1 to Kogallo in a
high profile KPL match staged at the Kasarani Stadium. A brace from Gor Mahia’s
Ivorian Import Yikpe Gnamien and goals from Clifton Miheso and Lawrence Juma saw
Gor Mahia cap off an impressive second half display with a routine thumping of
AFC Leopards.

Despite the loss, Ingwe’s captain
Soter Kayumba still believes that the team has what it takes to mount a serious
title charge.

Kayumba has called on fans to
rally behind the team stating that the Sunday loss should not affect the team’s
season in any way.

“We are playing a league and
not a tournament. The league has many games. You can, unfortunately, lose the
derby and win other matches and eventually win the league. Just urge our fans
to be patient and I know we will rectify our mistakes in the coming matches
starting with Bandari on Thursday,” Kayumba told www.afcleopards.co.ke.

Having squandered a number of
open chances in the first half, Kayumba admitted that his side lost the game at
that point.

“We played well in the first
half but we didn’t convert our chances to goals. We started the second half
slowly allowing our opponents into the game. After they scored their first
goal, we went on the offensive but unfortunately, we were left exposed and they
doubled their goals again.”

Sunday’s loss saw Ingwe drop
to 7th on the KPL log with the team now having won 4, drew 3 and
lost 2 games so far this season.

AFC Leopards will next take on
dockers Bandari FC before turning their attention to kpl newbies Kisumu All
Stars after the international break.
