Leroy Sane transfer: Lewandowski tells Bayern Munich chiefs to sign Man City star

Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has called for his team to sign Manchester City winger Leroy Sane this summer.

Sane started just nine league matches for City in 2019 and has been linked with a move to Bayern , with Lewandowski hailing him as ‘a player who can immediately take us higher’.

Germany international Sane, 23, was restricted largely to appearances from the bench due to the form of Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling as City swept all before them to win an unprecedented English domestic treble.

And the former Schalke player, who joined City for £37million in 2016 could opt for a return to his homeland, with Bayern keen on signing him.

Despite winning an eighth successive Bundesliga title, Bayern need to make changes. Borussia Dortmund pushed them all the way in the league, while in the Champions League Bayern suffered a disappointing last-16 exit to Liverpool .

And Lewandowski reckons Sane has the qualities to restore Bayern as a European superpower.

“That’s a super player with great qualities and great potential,” said Lewandowski in quotes reported by Goal .

“I’ve already seen many times how good he is. That’s a player who can immediately take us higher, who improves the team.”

Bayern have already landed the French defensive duo of Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez ahead of next season, and Lewandowski expects more arrivals at the Allianz Arena.

“The transfer window hasn’t even opened yet and we already have two players, I know there’s still more to come,” the forward said. “That’s certain. Bayern has not yet said the final word with respect to transfers.

“If someone comes, he has to help us immediately, make us better with his quality. You don’t have any time here to develop someone for two years.

“From the very first matchday, you have to raise the quality of the whole team.”
