Man Utd predicted line-up and team news for FA Cup third-round replay with Wolves

Manchester United will be hoping to book a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup when they welcome Wolves

to Old Trafford on Wednesday for their third-round replay.

The Red Devils weren’t able to get the job done in their first meeting with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side as they were held to a 0-0 draw at Molineux.

And United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been handed a boost ahead of the replay with news that centre-back Eric Bailly is close to completing his comeback from a long injury lay-off.

The 25-year-old has not played a competitive game since April after sustaining two knee injuries but Solskjaer said he is “very close” to making his return to the first team after featuring for the Under-23s.

Bailly is not expected to play against Wolves, but Solskjaer suggested that he could return for Sunday’s game against league leaders Liverpool .

The United boss also indicated that he is likely to use the same squad that faced Norwich in their convincing 4-0 win over the weekend.

“We’ll probably have a similar squad to what we had at the weekend against Norwich,” he told MUTV .

“Eric is playing today, behind closed doors, so he’s very close to full fitness, but it’s still a few days early, this one.”

Ashley Young is also set to miss out once again with injury alongside long-term absentees Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Marcos Rojo.

Luke Shaw is also a doubt with a tight hamstring, meaning that youngster Brandon Williams is expected to start once again as part of an unchanged back line, while Sergio Romero should start in goal.

There are still questions over Jesse Lingard’s involvement after he missed the win over Norwich due to illnesss.

Although Fred and Nemanja Matic are likely to resume their partnership in midfield, Solskjaer could also choose to give opportunities to youngsters including Daniel James and Tahith Chong.

Meanwhile, in-form striker Marcus Rashford is expected to also keep his place in the starting XI after scoring twice on his 200th appearance for United, while there could also be a place for Mason Greenwood.
