Pep Guardiola makes prediction for next Man City manager once he leaves club

Mikel Arteta, Manchester City’s No.2, has been tipped by Pep Guardiola to succeed him in the hot seat one day when he leaves the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola has been delighted with Arteta since he invited him to become part of his team at City.

And he is convinced the former Everton

and Arsenal midfielder is destined to manage in his own right.

Arteta turned down offers from Arsenal and Newcastle in the last 14 months. And when asked if he could take over from him at City, Guardiola said: “I’m pretty sure, yes. He will have success, yes. He had offers to leave but he decided to stay – thanks.

“Sooner or later he’s going to be a manager. He’s a young, young coach.

“He’s only 37 but he has experience already of handling big players and teams.”

City are looking to return to winning ways at home against Watford on Saturday after a surprising defeat at Norwich last weekend.

The 3-2 loss at Carrow Road saw the defending champions lose ground to current leaders Liverpool , who continued their perfect start against Newcastle to extend the gap at the top of the Premier League table to five points.

However, with both sides playing just five games so far in the new league campaign, Guardiola insisted he is not worried about the Reds’ early advantage.
